Thanatos, one of the most unusual hit games ever released on the Spectrum (or any other platform).   The game was revolutionary in its use of a main character that is half the length of the screen. This was at a time when most game characters were 8*8 pixels. It gave the game a very exciting and unusual appearance along side other Spectrum games.

The look of the game wasn't the only unusual thing. You play a Dragon that fly's along a medieval landscape avoiding or killing the populus. You have to rescue a witch from being burned at the stake, then carry her with you through several castles, picking up her possessions so that she can cast a spell.

Besides killing the general populus, you also encounter knights on horses, giant spiders, sea monsters and two headed dragons. In its time, this game had the visual impact of Incoming today. It was also one of the first games I remember that made good use of the Spectrum 128's multiple sound channels. By today's standards, the music isn't much, but back then it was ear candy.
